We pride ourselves on producing excellently engineered and exclusively designed weathervanes/windvanes, and over the years have made thousands sold at home and abroad, including many special commissions. John Sayer has perfected the technical details of his own designs and used his engineering skills to produce top quality weather vanes at affordable prices. The weathervanes are made from steel. The components are cleaned and degreased, treated with Zinc Phosphate then electrostatically coated with polyester, which is baked on at over 200 degrees, giving a traditional black silhouette finish to resist the weather. On the following pages we try to give you an idea of the diverse designs available, with lists in categories - Birds weathervanes, Dog weathervanes, Horse weathervanes, Animal and Fish weathervanes, People/Sport, Transport , Trees and Misc. If we don't already make the one that you want we take commissions, and can also alter existing designs if needed i.e. put in a different breed of dog with a gunman, or add a cat with the gardener, etc. If you have any queries after looking at our site contact either John or Carolyn Sayer who will be pleased to help. At the bottom of this page we show our Owl & Pussycat weathervane Des.141, and a special commission. When we do shows, such as Hampton Court, the Witch weathervane, Design.50, usually attracts the most comments. The weather vanes have full freedom of movement and are balanced to point into the wind. They are easily installed and can be mounted on a gable end, chimney, ridge, cupola, etc., and our 3 sizes make them suitable for most applications. Each comes complete with fittings, instructions, and a choice from three standard brackets. (Other brackets can be made to measure and will be charged separately). We recommend using a spirit level when installing, and a compass. Visitors are welcome at our workshops, situated in the village of Edlesborough, not far from Dunstable/Luton/Leighton Buzzard. Please telephone beforehand as we are sometimes out on site. The CHILTERN range of weathervanes has a Plain or Scrolled Base, with over 80 designs. The MEDIUM range of weathervanes has a choice of either a Plain or Scrolled Base, with over 300 designs. The LARGE range of weathervanes has either a Plain or Scrolled Base, and carries the same designs as the medium range scaled to size.
